Budding Client: Botanical Williamsburg Wallpaper

We loved seeing this Garden Image paper from York Wallcoverings go up at our client’s home. Inspired by Georg Ehret’s magnificent watercolor from 1737, Garden Image is one of our favorite designs from the WILLIAMSBURG Collection. The botanical design captures the natural ambience of gardens in Colonial Williamsburg and transformed our clients sitting room into a lovely garden respite. Our client gasped and smiled when she saw it being installed! We live for those moments and take the time to listen carefully to our client’s to bring them great choices.

Marina has worked with me on two styles of homes. She has an easygoing way of knowing exactly what I want even when I thought I wanted something else. She works well with contractors while being firm about what is needed.

Trend Meets Tradition at the Winter Antiques Show in New York

Abby Aldrich Rockefeller started her Folk Art collection in New York in 1931, in her home located just a few blocks from the Park Avenue Armory, where the Winter Antiques Show takes place today. Later, Mrs. Rockefeller generously donated 420 of her favorite items to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. In the ensuing years the collection has grown to more than 7000 objects, with some of the finest examples of folk art in America on view today at the Abby Alrdrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum in Colonial Williamsburg.

The “Revolution and Evolution” exhibit at the 2017 Winter Antiques Show last week featured 51 objects from this famous collection. They include the famous Baby in the Red Chair, Leedom Farm by Edward Hicks and other prized items including The Old Plantation–a depiction of slave celebration and dance which was attributed to John Rose only recently after years of research.

Colonial Williamsburg is the only institution to be invited twice to the Winter Antique Show in New York, appearing both in 2001 and 2017. We spoke with Curator Laura Barry about the exhibit, and her excitement was contagious. If you missed the Winter Antiques Show, our photos below offer a rare glimpse of this extraordinary collection.

In 2026 we will celebrate 250 years since the Declaration of Independence, and we believe this event will trigger a renaissance of American traditional style. This post is part of our continuing dedication to report on the progress and achievements of the Williamsburg brand and its affiliate partner brands, and of the great Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.

Confident Client: Whole House Color Package

Our confident client turned to us during the building process to do a whole house color package.  We provided a spread sheet with colors specified including wall, ceiling, trim and finish for every room. The team effort of the client and designer working together produced amazing results.  Below is the kitchen where we used Van Duesen Blue HC-156 from Benjamin Moore.  We also worked on tile, ship lap and other fun details during the process!

Marina helped save us hours, or more likely days, of stress and repainting!! As we were in the final stages of building our home my husband and I realized we were in need of help with our color choices. Marina walked through our door and just got it! She understood us, our taste and the look we were trying to achieve in just moments.
