There are less than two weeks left to view one of the most successful designer showhouses in the country, the Mansion in May Designer Showhouse and Gardens. Presented by the Woman’s Association for Morristown Medical Center (WAMMC) Mansion in May is the Association’s signature fundraising event—bringing in over $10 million dollars for worthwhile causes at Morristown Medical Center since 1974.
WAMMC’s 18th Mansion in May features Alnwick Hall “The Abbey” in Morris Township New Jersey and highlights the work of over 50 designers from the Metropolitan area, including Marina Case, Barbara Ostrom, Jess Riley and Katja van der Loo.
Marina was selected from 270 of designers and received the Association’s attention for her creativity and fun approach in designing a Scottish Lasses Loo featuring funny photos and whimsical touches which have many people laughing.
Marina’s interpretation of classic symbols of Scottish tradition most notably stands out in her design elements highlighting the unique wool and kilt fashion culture of Scotland. The Lasses Loo is garnering notable attention for its striking walls covered floor to ceiling in Alessandra Branca’s fuchsia Alexander Tartan fabric for Schumacher. The ceiling and trim all done in the rich, deep and luxurious tones of Benjamin Moore’s Kendall Charcoal stand to further compliment and enhance these show stopping walls. Known as the ‘Rolls Royce’ of plumbing fixtures, Lefroy Brooks’ Classic Lever Faucet sits as the crown jewel of the Loo.
This year with over 5,000 pre-sale tickets sold before the doors even opened, the Showcase expects to attract over 33,000 visitors during its month-long run. Mansion in May is open every day to the public for daily tours from May 1st through 31st between the hours of 10AM and 3PM. Tickets for self-guided tours are available for purchase online or at the door for $50.00. We suggest visiting on a weekday to avoid the lines often encountered on the weekends.
Most items in the design spaces are available for purchase at the Mansion, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Morristown Medical Center. Come, not only to admire the designs but to purchase the pieces you love and take them home after Mansion in May!
And don’t forget to vote for The Lasses Loo as your favorite Interior and Landscape Design Space! Cast your ballot on the iPads in the Welcome Center at the entrance of the Canfield Café.
We truly encourage you not to miss this golden event. Mansion in May is a bi-annual event, only open for less than two weeks. Don’t delay! Your next opportunity may not be until May 2019.
