Our Mansion in May showroom is finally ready for its big reveal, so here it is, our slightly scandalous, entirely cheeky and super fun Scottish Highland Lasses Loo!
Every great showroom starts with a great design concept, but when the space is a small powder room in a mansion that boasts 20,000 square feet as The Abbey does, we knew we needed more than a great concept—we needed a show-stopper. The Highland Lasses Loo was designed to elicit surprise, joy, curiosity, and most of all giggles, all simultaneously.
Over 20,000 visitors experienced the hilarity and fun of our Highland Lasses Loo design, and it ranked among the most talked about spaces. We hear from a reliable source that that visitors were literally taking out their reading glasses in order to garner a better appreciation for the “art” that decked the walls, specifically lots of near-naked men in kilts. The show house has been closed for over two weeks now and people are still calling and emailing us every day asking to purchase the images. And sorry, they still are not for sale.
The entire showhouse experience was amazing. After years of shying away from them and visiting many—we are thrilled that Mansion in May was The Red Shutter’s debut showhouse. The WAMMC group is a fierce team that few corporations could even match; they are organized, efficient and kind all at once. The pristine efficiency with which they ran Mansion in May truly allowed for us to be fully immersed in the experience and discover, to our own surprise, just how much we actually love doing a showhouse! We would also like to take a moment and offer our sincerest gratitude to Barbara Ostrom, the Showhouse Queen and author of the book, “Curtains Up!”, for her gentle encouragement for us to participate in the showhouse—without it, the Scottish Lasses Loo may have missed its day.
A special thank you to Lefroy Brooks, Benjamin Moore and F. Schumacher; Alessandra Branca for their sponsorship!
