We’re beyond excited to share that The Red Shutters has been recognized with the Best of Houzz Design and Best of Houzz Service awards for 2025! These awards are a reflection not only of our passion for interior design but also of the incredible clients we’ve had the privilege of working with. A huge thank you to everyone who has trusted us to bring their vision to life! We are truly grateful for your continued support and partnership.
Since these awards are based on the previous year, we thought this is the perfect opportunity to highlight the amazing projects we worked on in 2024 that our client’s called attention to through their Houzz reviews – hopefully they will inspire you!
“Each project has been a labor of love, filled with collaboration, creativity, and a shared commitment to creating spaces that are comfortable, eclectic, and truly reflect the lives and stories of those who live within them,” said Marina Case, The Red Shutters’ principal designer. “We’re proud to have designed spaces that our clients adore.”
Cold Spring Getaway
Owners of an incredible home overlooking the Hudson River retained us to help with a whole home refresh (3 bedrooms, living room, dining room, and lower guest suite) of their weekend retreat. The surrounding natural landscape set the stage for the design. We infused blues, camel tans, and cinnamons – repeating variations of these tones throughout the textiles, wallpaper, and accessories. Colorful lamps, pillows, bedding, and artwork were key elements. Although, when it came to the view of the river, we opted for neutral window coverings to let the lush landscape be the focal point. As this residence is also an Airbnb, we made sure our selections were practical and durable.
“One of my favorite spaces in this home is the front entry which features a bold, colorful Anna French print by Thibaut and a bench with the perfect pop of red,” said Marina. “I was inspired by a Hudson Valley scene with weeping willow trees hanging into the water.
"Marina and her team meticulously orchestrated every detail, from the careful selection and procurement of furnishings and fabric to the installation of window treatments and arrangement of furniture, rugs, lighting, and an array of art, ensuring a truly curated space."

“Following a recent renovation, Marina’s expertise proved invaluable in converting a cold and impersonal space into a warm and inviting second home. Right from our initial consultation, Marina made the entire process easy and enjoyable. Her friendly demeanor and clear communication put me at ease from the start.
Understanding our needs quickly, Marina gracefully navigated me through the design journey. Marina and her team meticulously orchestrated every detail, from the careful selection and procurement of furnishings and fabric to the installation of window treatments and arrangement of furniture, rugs, lighting, and an array of art, ensuring a truly curated space. Despite occasional hurdles like fabric unavailability, Marina’s resourcefulness always prevailed, offering alternatives that worked out well. While I’m sure there was considerable effort behind the scenes, everything felt seamless.
Marina skillfully blended style, color, and functionality, elevating our space and infusing it with a welcoming and warm ambiance. Our family extends our heartfelt thanks to you and your team. We anticipate enjoying it for years to come!”

Turn of the Century Gem in Warwick
Anyone who follows us, knows we just love the architectural elements that are commonly found in older homes – wide mouldings, original mantels, bold banisters – and creating designs that focus on preserving the integrity of these features while creating a fresh space that vibes with the history of the home. So when the owners of this turn of the century period home in the historic district of Warwick reached out for help with interior design, we were all in!
“I dreamed of working on this home my whole life,” said Marina. “Every time I drove past it, I envisioned what the interior looked like – and now I’m so happy to help make it shine! The client wanted to evoke feelings of a beach house in Warwick. Our design beautifully showcases the history of the home with a coastal, comfortable vibe. The result looks like something right out of the Hamptons.”
This has been a complete home, full-service project, that includes:
• Creative Process with Marina and our Team
• Inspiration Boards/ Concept Work
• 3D Drawings
• Specifications Packets
• Color/Wallpaper Plan
• Flooring Specifications and Finishing oversight
• Art/Accessory Plans
• Contractor Collaboration
• All Curtain and Blinds specified as needed
• Regular Communication regarding details that arise
• Styling and Staging
We have designed the living room, parlor, billiard room, dining room, kitchen, primary bedroom, 3 guest bedrooms, upstairs media room, exercise room, and hallways. With so much to transform, our client opted to do the work in stages – a decision we fully embrace as it allows for the creative process to really gel, isn’t overwhelming for the client, and is more budget-friendly.
“Amazing to work with.”

“Marina and her team at The Red Shutters have been amazing to work with. We recently moved into a historic home in Warwick, NY, and they’ve helped us transform it into a comfortable and beautiful family home. I couldn’t be happier with the process and the guidance provided during the design process.”

Nesting in Saratoga Springs
Our Saratoga Springs clients were expecting and tasked us with designing their entire home before the baby was born. It was a challenge, but one we gladly took on.
“As a mom of two grown boys myself, I remember those days of wanting to have everything in place before they arrived,” said Marina. “It’s such an exciting time, and my team and I were thrilled to be part of transforming our client’s house into a home for an entire family to love and fill with amazing memories.”
We worked laboriously to create colorful, comfortable, family-friendly spaces – living room, family room, office, den, primary bedroom, nursery, hallways, and bathroom.
“Marina was able to let us set the overall design tone but then provide us with sets of options to make everything feel less overwhelming”

“We started working with Marina/Red Shutters because we were moving into our first house and wanted a totally clean slate. This was the first time we had ever dealt with a designer. Marina held our hand through the initial steps as we started to figure out our style and budget and made us feel very comfortable. Marina was able to let us set the overall design tone but then provide us with sets of options to make everything feel less overwhelming. As we have gotten more comfortable with our own tastes we’ve been able to work flexibly and seamlessly within her overall designs.
I think the best part of the work Marina has done is that even though we started from scratch and we are working in phases toward a long-term design vision, the incremental stages along the way don’t feel unfinished at all. She has been able to create extremely livable designs and environments in our home that feel refined and finished even though we know there are going to be future steps we can take to build on the work we’ve started. In other words, don’t be afraid to just start and take things in steps because the work will look great as you go.
On top of all that, Marina and her team are extremely friendly and approachable, always available and communicative, and very professional. We’re very excited to keep working with Marina and would recommend her to anyone.”

Sophisticated Spaces in Warwick
When you have clients who love to travel extensively and live in a cosmopolitan city like NYC, you have a sophisticated story to tell as interior designers. We worked closely with our clients to cultivate a home that speaks to who they are and where they’ve been. This full-service project was tackled in two phases. Phase 1 – kitchen, living room, master bedroom. Phase 2 – the bathrooms.
The master bath is the perfect retreat from everyday stressors. The black and white color palette warmed by the wood ceiling and door exudes a contemporary, yet timeless, tranquil vibe. For the powder room, we opted for something a bit more fun with bold, colorful wallpaper from Thibaut.
"Marina and her team were very easy to work with, super friendly, and customer centric."

“Marina & Her team did such an excellent job creating a vision and bringing it to life with our 4500 sq. foot home. Her style and technique were everything we were looking for, and her expertise guided us into the direction as to what would work for our home and what would not. Marina and her team were very easy to work with, super friendly, and customer centric. If ever an issue occurred, Marina would do everything possible to make it right and go above and beyond our expectations. She truly provides a white glove service that most designers do not, and my husband and I could not be more thankful for the masterpiece she created. We look forward to continuing our relationship with her and the team as we grow in our home and continue to evolve it.”
